The much anticipated graduation ceremony which was held on Saturday, 4th of July at the school hall was well attended by parents, students, teachers and well wishers.
The programme which started started a little after 10 am in the morning had the graduating students walked across the stage with a processional hymn- “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, by William M. Runyan (1923).
Nisha Masha-one of the students of Vivian Fowler in her welcome address, assured parents and teachers that their presence at the event would be worthwhile.
The Chairman, Board of Governors, Vivian Fowler Memorial College For Girls-Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House Church in his speech, gave the girls motivation to achieve greater exploits as they prepared to take the next important steps, that would herald their glory into the world.
In the same vein, the keynote speaker-Mrs Stephanie Busari, an award-winning Nigerian Journalist, Editor and Media Executive with Cable News Network (CNN), in her address; encouraged the graduating students not to rest on their oars because beyond the sky is their limitations. She encouraged them to dream big and dominate their world.
While she advised them to be focused, determined and resilient in order to accomplish their set goals in life, Busari reiterated the need for them to believe in themselves and prioritize what they are passionate about.
Another guest speaker, Mrs Zelda Akindele-Partner, Templars Law Firm and The Distinguished Alumna Speaker (Class of 2001), Mrs Kikelomo Fola-Ogunnaiya, Co-Founder, Cargoplug, took their turns to educate the graduating students on what next steps to take, after their school experience at Vivian Fowler.
The event took a different dimension when some graduating students who performed outstandingly well in their class were called on to the stage for special recognitions; vis-a-vis Academic Trailblazer Award, Top Scholar Award, Robotics and Innovation Global Ambassador Awards among others.
Four of the students represented Nigeria in competitions held in Houston, Norway, Singapore and Australia in recent times. They showcased their talents and excelled in their respective competitions.
Then came the moment, The School Director-Mrs Olufunke Fowler Amba made her address. She mounted the stage to express her gratitude to God, first for making it possible for the students ( Class of 2026) to come this far, and for the experience garnered during the period.
According to her, the students were admitted into the school when the world was hit by the Covid 19 Pandemic Outbreak, but they did not lose their mettle rather, they showed great resilience in their quest to acquire knowledge, with or without the scourge.
“The mesmerizing effect of their success was that they were able to discover their innate ability to learn outside the normal classroom experience. Indeed, it was the ‘Dawn of the Extraordinary’”, Mrs Amba revealed.
The high point of the event was the Valedictorian Award that was given to Elvita Ibukunoluwa Adeboyejo who performed outstandingly well in all ramifications both at home and abroad.
