Rite Foods Limited has scaled up its 2026 World Water Day campaign, reaching over 3,000 essential workers across Lagos with free portable water, reinforcing its commitment to inclusion and equitable access to clean water.

World Water Day which is commemorated annually on March 22 draws global attention to the importance of safe water as a fundamental human need and a critical driver of health, dignity, and social inclusion.

Thus; the Year 2026 Theme; “Where Water Flows, Equality Grows,” underscores the link between water access and inclusive development.

Leveraging the campaign, Rite Foods, through its flagship brand, Bigi Premium Table Water, distributed chilled bottled water across about 12 high-traffic locations in Lagos. The initiative targeted workers who spend long hours outdoors under harsh weather conditions.

Beneficiaries included sanitation workers, traffic management officials, transport operators, street vendors, and security personnel—groups that play vital roles in keeping the city running but are often overlooked.

The company also made deliberate efforts to reach female essential workers, highlighting their critical yet under-recognized contributions.

The outreach extended to personnel from key public institutions such as the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the Nigeria Police Force, among others.

Speaking on the initiative, Rite Foods’ Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Dennis Aideloje, emphasized the company’s focus on meaningful social impact.

“This year’s ‘World Water Day’ theme speaks about inclusion and our shared humanity. At Rite Foods, we recognize that access to clean water goes beyond hydration—it restores energy, bridges gaps, and reassures people that they are seen and valued. Through Bigi Water, we are connecting with communities in impactful ways,” he said.

The company noted that the 2026 campaign builds on previous editions, expanding its reach and deepening community engagement across the state.

Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude, describing the gesture as not just timely relief from the heat but also a recognition of their daily contributions. Some recalled similar interventions in past years, commending the company’s consistency.

Rite Foods also revealed plans to extend the initiative to other parts of the country, which will further strengthen its commitment to community well-being and sustainable development.

The campaign reflects the company’s broader vision of delivering social value beyond business, demonstrating how improved access to water can support equity and enhance quality of life.
