‎Youth Advocate for Hamzat (YAH) on Saturday, May 9th,  2026 held its official state inauguration at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Lagos, with a strong political mobilisation drive aimed at galvanising youths across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs/LCDAs) in support of Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

The inauguration which was themed “Unified Frontiers: Harnessing the 57 LGA/LCDA for Total Victory,” attracted thousands of youth participants and political stakeholders across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of YAH, Bakare Bolaji Faronbi, described the movement as a platform dedicated to promoting the political aspirations of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The DG, who identified himself as a true son of Isolo and son of Kabiyesi Oba Isa Shekoni Faronbi, disclosed that the group is projecting 1.5 million votes for both President Tinubu and Dr. Hamzat in Lagos State.

“We are proposing 1.5 million votes for Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and we want to assure the President that while Lagos delivered about 762,000 votes in the last election, Youth Advocates for Hamzat is working towards delivering 1.5 million votes for President Tinubu and Dr. Obafemi Hamzat,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the deputy governor’s leadership capacity, Faronbi stated that he believes in Hamzat’s words, actions, and vision, adding that the movement is built on peace, unity, and harmony.

Also speaking, Aiyepola Bilquees Morenikeji, a youth leader and National Secretary of the Nawairudeen Society of Nigeria, said the gathering of over 3,000 youths reflected the growing desire among young people for leadership that understands their realities.

According to her, Dr. Hamzat is an experienced and passionate leader capable of translating the pains of youths into opportunities for growth and development.
‎

‎“We gathered over 3,000 youths today for their voices to be heard. He is an experienced and a passionate listener. We want somebody who can transform opportunities around young people so that we can continue to build a greater Lagos State,” she said.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Youth Development and Mobilisation, Alabi Opeyemi Oladimeji who represented the Lagos State Commissioner for Youths and Sport Development in an interview with the media, charged the youth to mobilise and encourage their peers who are not politically active to participate in governance and electoral processes.

He stressed the influence of youths in Lagos politics, noting that the demography possesses the power to shape political decisions and outcomes.

“There is power in the youth constituency. Decisions can be made through the youth population, and actions can also be actualised within that demography. I urge politically exposed youths to reach out to others and encourage them to support the most capable political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

Similarly, the Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Honourable Akinyemi Ajigbotafe who represented the Deputy Governor of Lagos State His Excellency Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat commended the initiative, describing it as impressive and a clear demonstration of the youth’s support for Dr. Hamzat.

He noted that youths from various Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) turned out to advocate support for the deputy governor, expressing optimism that Hamzat would emerge as the governor of the state in 2027.

“The youths should not give up. They should continue to put in efforts and not get tired,” he advised.

On his part, National Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, urged young people to intensify grassroots mobilisation and educate non-politically exposed youths and elderly on the importance of voting.

He emphasised that youth-driven advocacy would help older generations appreciate better, what he described as the achievements of President Tinubu and the developmental strides recorded in Lagos State since 1999.

According to him, Lagos has continued to progress under successive administrations inspired by Tinubu’s legacy, adding that the same developmental model is now being replicated at the national level.

Earlier, the convener of the initiative, Honorable Olawale Haruna Ariyo Megida said that the youth representatives and coordinators inaugurated from the different LCDAs represent only a segment of the YAH membership structure.

‎
‎The event came to a climax with the presentation of certificates to newly inaugurated Youth Advocates for Hamzat 2027 coordinators, signalling the formal commencement of grassroots mobilisation efforts across Lagos State.
