Inspired by the global IWD 2026 theme, “Give To Gain”, Wema Bank’s celebration will focus on the topic “When Women Gain, We Grow”, highlighting the transformative impact of supporting women and promoting a culture of inclusion and empowerment.

Speaking on the event, Wema Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Moruf Oseni, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to gender equality. “A society where women are left out is one that is crippled. At Wema Bank, we walk the talk by providing tailored opportunities, celebrating women’s growth, and supporting their journeys. Initiatives like our women-focused proposition, SARA by Wema, launched in 2019, reflect our dedication to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality,” he said.

Oseni added that, “This year, we aim to spotlight the countless ways society can give to women, and why it is not just an option but a necessity. We want every participant to leave the event with a renewed mindset and actionable insights to support women, both in daily life and through large-scale initiatives”, he said.

The event will bring together women from diverse sectors alongside everyday women navigating life’s challenges. It will offer a platform to network, share experiences, explore opportunities, and discuss the impact of giving to women.

Key highlights include:

SARA Gives to Empower Her Award: Grants for women making impactful contributions to others.

He For She Award: Recognising male employees who have actively supported women beyond financial means.

Wema Knight Gives Initiative: Bank staff giving back to women across Nigeria.

Launch of the Wema Bank Girl Child Journal: A reflective journal featuring advice and insights for the girl child from 80 contributors across various fields.

Interested participants can register to attend physically or virtually at wemabank.com/iwd.

Wema Bank’s 2026 IWD event underscores its continued dedication to celebrating and empowering women, reinforcing the message that when women gain, society as a whole grows.
