Sterling Financial Holdings Company Plc has reported strong financial performance for the 2025 financial year and the first quarter of 2026, with total assets crossing the ₦4 trillion mark for the first time in the Group’s history.

The company, in its audited financial results for the year ended December 31, 2025, and unaudited results for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, recorded significant growth in earnings, profitability, and shareholders’ funds across its businesses.

According to the Group Chief Financial Officer, Adebimpe Olambiwonnu, gross earnings for the 2025 financial year rose by 44.4 per cent to ₦486.8 billion, described as the strongest performance in the Group’s modern history.

Profit Before Tax increased by 89.2 per cent to ₦86.8 billion, while Profit After Tax climbed by 74.8 per cent to ₦76.3 billion.

The Group also recorded major balance sheet expansion during the period, with total assets growing to ₦3.91 trillion, customer deposits rising to ₦2.98 trillion, and loans and advances closing at ₦1.41 trillion. Shareholders’ funds also grew by 40.5 per cent to ₦428.7 billion.

Sterling Financial sustained the growth momentum into the first quarter of 2026 as total assets increased further to ₦4.07 trillion. Thus; Gross earnings for Q1 2026 rose by 41.6 per cent year-on-year to ₦134.8 billion, driven largely by a 36.8 per cent increase in net interest income to ₦64.9 billion.

Operating income stood at ₦93.4 billion during the quarter, while Profit Before Tax rose by 52.8 per cent to ₦27.9 billion. Profit After Tax also increased to ₦23.4 billion.

The Group’s shareholders’ funds strengthened further to ₦542.5 billion following the successful completion of its recapitalisation programme.

In a statement issued recently, the Group Managing Director of Sterling Financial Holdings Company Plc, Yemi Odubiyi while commenting on the performance said, the results reflected continued growth across the Group’s core businesses, supported by improved operating efficiency and stronger capital position.

He noted that the recapitalisation exercise had positioned the Group for its next phase of expansion across commercial banking, non-interest banking, and wealth-management operations.

Odubiyi added that the Group remained focused on sustaining growth, strengthening its balance sheet, and delivering long-term value across its diversified business platform.

The company said the continued expansion of Sterling Bank Limited, The Alternative Bank Limited, and SterlingFI Wealth Management has positioned the Group to compete effectively across multiple segments under a unified strategic structure.

The group added that it would sail through the rest of 2026 with stronger capital, expanded operating capacity, and sustained momentum across its banking and wealth-management businesses.
