Thus; Margaret Ochalla has been appointed to head the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), while Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha will oversee the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The latest redeployment, conveyed through an internal police communication, assigns newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police to strategic departments within the force.

On the one hand, DIG Margaret Ochalla will lead the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), a key investigative arm responsible for handling complex and high-profile criminal cases nationwide.

DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, on the other hand, has been posted to head the Department of Information and Communication Technology, where he is expected to drive technological advancement and digital transformation within the Nigeria Police.

Other senior officers also received new assignments. DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan will head the Department of Legal Services, while DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba takes charge of Research and Planning. DIG Isyaku Mohammed has been posted to Training and Development, and DIG Mohammed Sulaiman will oversee Finance and Administration.

Additionally, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie will head the Force Intelligence Department, while DIG Umar Shehu Nadada has been assigned to the Department of Operations.

The Inspector-General emphasized that the postings are part of ongoing administrative measures designed to enhance coordination, strengthen intelligence-led policing, and improve the operational effectiveness of the police nationwide.

Earlier, The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, decorated eight senior officers elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in a ceremony at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

In his address, IGP Disu described the ceremony as more than a symbolic adornment, emphasising that promotion to DIG recognises decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and leadership capacity.

He charged the officers to provide strategic direction, strengthen internal discipline, drive reforms, and ensure policing strategies remain responsive to evolving security challenges.

He urged them to leverage their experience in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and accountability while inspiring confidence within the Force and trust among the public.

IGP Olatunji Disu extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his support and to the Police Service Commission for ensuring transparency and professionalism in the promotion processes.

He also acknowledged the families of the newly decorated officers for their sacrifices and encouragement, which have been critical to the officers’ distinguished careers.

The newly promoted DIGs are Zachariah Fera Achinyan fdc; Zango Ibrahim Baba; Isyaku Mohammed; Margaret Agebe Ochalla; Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman mni; Kenechukwu Onwuemelie fdc; Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha mni; and Umar Shehu Nadada mni.
