A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a two time Governor of Ogun State, who is currently the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the 10th Senate-Otunba Gbenga Daniel shut down Lagos with the grand finale of his 70th birthday, held on Saturday the 10th of April, 2026 at the Harbour Point Event Center.
The event which was tagged OGD @ 70 was the culmination of series of events marking his birthday.
Indeed, it was a gathering of who is who in Nigeria that came in their droves to felicitate with the “Omoluwabi” of Yoruba ancestry.
King Sunny Ade was live on stage to thrill the guests with his melody. The guests were equally served with different kinds of food both Nigerian and intercontinental.
Some of the dignitaries that honoured OGD at the grand finale of his 70th birthday celebration included; members of the National Assembly led by the Deputy Senate President-Senator Barau Jibrin. Others were, Senator Abdul Ningi (Bauchi Central), Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe (FCT), Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang (Plataeu), Senator Akogun Olalere Oyewunmi (Osun), Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule (Lagos West), Senior Adetokunbo Abiru Mukhail (Lagos East), Senator Ikra Aliyu Bilbis (Zamfara North Senatorial District), Senator Tolulope Akinremi Olawale Odebiyi (former lawmaker who represented Ogun West Senatorial District), Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Senator Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora among others.
Other personalities included: one of the richest women in Africa and founder /CEO of Bolmus Group International-Hajia Bola Muinat Shagaya, The Odole Oodua, founder and chairman of Premier Lotto Limited (PLL) also known as Baba Ijebu-Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu and his wife, the Nigerian Industrialist and the Aare of Lagos, who is the owner and founder of Eleganza group of companies-Chief Rasak Akanni Okoya with his delectable wife Dr. Folashade Okoya, the founder and chairman of the Doyin Group of Companies-Prince (Chief) Samuel Adedoyin OFR, Chief Daniel and the Labour Party Gubernatorial candidate in Lagos at the last election- Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
Still on the list of dignitaries were: The 46th Alaafin of Oyo-Oba (Dr.) Akeem Abimbola Owoade, HRH Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, Erelu Kuti IV of Lagos, founder of Child Health Advocacy Initiative, Dr. Elizabeth Lola Alonge, Honourable Olawale Okunniyi, Professor Toyin Ashiru, Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment –Olajumoke Omoniyi Oduwole, Governor Seyi Makinde and numerous friends, family members, associates and supporters who came in their numbers to make the day a memorable one.
Recall that OGD hosted a book unveiling on April 1st, at Sheu Musa Yar’Adua Center-Abuja, where he unveiled four books to the members of the public via-a-vis: “My March Through the Court and the Triumph of Faith, Path to Justice, Daniel in the Lion’s Den as well as Otunba Gbenga Daniel in the Eyes of Times.
He specifically marked his 70th birthday on the 6th of April with a thanksgiving service at Abraham’s Tabernacle in Sagamu-officiated by Bishop Enoch Adejare Adeboye of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
