The Lagos State Government has made preparations towards the laying of the groundwork for the “Lagos State Job Fair 2025 2.0”, slated for September 11th.

The Governor of Lagos State -Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu made this known during a stakeholders’ Forum organized by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment at the Marriott Hotel Ikeja recently.

 

Mr. Governor who was represented at the event by The Secretary to The State Government- Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, commended the Ministry for the initiative that echoes The T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of a Greater Lagos Rising.

 

He urged the stakeholders to collaborate to guide youth entrepreneurs in bringing together and engaging a broad coalition of job providers, so as to promote employment opportunities.

While delivering his welcome address, The Commissioner for Ministry of Wealth Creation And Employment; Honourable Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, outlined the ministry’s achievements in combating unemployment.

 

In his remarks, Ajigbotafe highlighted several initiatives that have helped the youth become more productive in their communities vis-a-vis; the GIPP, specialized ICT program, youth in blighted area initiative among others, while he added that all sectors must work hand in hand to achieve better results.

 

Guest speaker at the event, Mallam Ahmed Landan Gabir, a member of the CIPM Governing Council, underscored the necessity of developing a skill-based, digital workforce, empowering women and people with disabilities as well as harnessing youth potential to drive productivity.

The forum also featured panel discussion with experts from various fields, including education, security, finance, manufacturing, and engineering. They focused on the topic: “Inclusive Prosperity: Gender and Social Equity in Youth Empowerment”,  which also was a pointer to the need for equitable opportunities and social inclusion in youth empowerment efforts.

 

 

The Theme for this year’s programme: “Passion to Prosperity: Unlocking Youth Potential in Lagos”,  reflected its primary objective of converging stakeholders in order to deliberate on strategies to tackle unemployment in Lagos.
