The Corps which describes both causes a as major traffic violations, did not state however, if charges will be brought against the boxer.

Recall that the crash occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, around the Sinoma area near Sagamu, Ogun State.

The accident involved a black Lexus Jeep conveying Anthony Joshua and a stationary commercial truck parked by the roadside.

According to the FRSC, the Lexus vehicle was suspected to be travelling above the legal speed limit when it lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and rammed into the truck

FRSC spokesperson Olusegun Ogungbemide said operatives arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving the distress call.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the Lexus Jeep was travelling beyond the prescribed speed limit and lost control while overtaking, resulting in a collision with a stationary truck,” Ogungbemide stated.

He disclosed that two occupants died, one sustained injuries, while two others escaped unhurt. Anthony Joshua was rescued alive and suffered minor injuries.

The injured victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at Livewell Morgue in Sagamu. The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division has been notified for further investigation.
