Sequel to the massive applications received from members of the public, The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks.

To this effect, the application portal that was opened on the 15th of December, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Police Service Commission, Torty Njoku Kalu on Monday January 26th,  2026, more than 400,000 applications have already been received nationwide.

However, a review of the applications revealed that there were some noticeable disparities in participation across states.

While states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, other states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra reportedly recorded a low application figures.

The Commission said the extension is aimed at promoting equitable representation across the country and providing additional opportunity for eligible Nigerians, particularly those from underrepresented states, to participate in the exercise.

Therefore, applicants are advised to submit their applications through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng before the new deadline.

The PSC also has called on the state governments, government at the grassroots, sociocultural organisations, religious institutions, traditional rulers, and community leaders to intensify awareness about the recruitment and mobilise qualified youths within their areas to apply.

Reaffirming its position, the Commission assured the public that the recruitment process will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
