Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reduced the price of aviation fuel, Jet A1, from N1,750 to N1,650 per litre in a move designed to ease the financial burden on airlines and guarantee uninterrupted fuel supply across the country.

As part of the initiative, the refinery also unveiled a 30-day interest-free credit facility for marketers and airline operators, backed by bank guarantees. In addition, the company has shifted from a dollar-denominated pricing structure to a naira-based model.

The development comes amid mounting concerns over the high cost of airline operations, with aviation fuel accounting for a major share of expenses incurred by domestic carriers.

Industry stakeholders have consistently warned that rising Jet A1 prices were placing severe pressure on operators and threatening the sustainability of flight services.

Analysts say the refinery’s latest intervention is expected to lower fuel procurement costs for airlines, enhance operational stability, and support efforts to moderate airfares for passengers.
