The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo−Olu, CON, at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja recently.

 

According to a statement issued by DSP Afolayan Gbenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Headquarters, the AIG, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, and members of the Zonal Management Team, formally introduced himself to the Governor as the newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters.

 

 

He expressed appreciation to the Governor for his sustained support and invaluable assistance to the Police, particularly in the areas of logistics, operational support, and welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening effective policing and crime prevention.

 

The AIG also highlighted some of the achievements recorded within the Zone which have contributed to reducing crime and criminality while ensuring sustained peace, security and public safety across the Lagos and Ogun States.

 

During the visit, AIG Olohundare Jimoh informed the Governor of some reforms he has introduced since assuming duty at Zone 2 Headquarters. These include:

 

* The complete ban of transfer of cases from the State Commands to the Zone

* The ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and service delivery within the zone.

He also informed the Governor of the approval for the creation of additional seven Police Divisional Headquarters by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM in Lagos State following his recommendation to the IGP, while the AIG was Commissioner of Police in Lagos state.

 

 

The AIG reassured the Governor of the unwavering commitment of the Zone 2 Headquarters to maintaining law and order, protection of lives and property and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents.

 

 

He further commended the sustained efforts of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police command, CP Tijani Fatai, in the fight against crime and criminality within the state.

In his remarks, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo−Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State welcomed the AIG to a warm reception and described the visit as a homecoming, while taking into cognizance the AIG’s previous service as Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command.

 

The Governor described the Zone 2 Headquarters as one of the foremost Zones in the Country and expressed confidence in the leadership, professionalism and work ethics of the AIG noting that his tenure is bound for success.

 

 

Governor Sanwo−Olu appreciated the Inspector General of Police for the ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the approval of additional Divisional Headquarters for Lagos State Command stating that such development would bring policing closer to the people and further strengthen public trust and confidence in the Police.

 

 

The Governor assured the AIG of the continued support and cooperation of the Lagos State government towards achieving safer communities and improved security architecture across the state.

 

 

The visit underscores the commitment of the Zone 2 Headquarters to fostering strong institutional collaboration with the state government in addressing security challenges, promoting public safety and enhancing effective policing within the State.
