The event which was held on the 9th of March at the Civic Center, Victoria Island-Lagos brought together “The Who is Who” from different sectors of the economy, to celebrate the power of women in the world.

In her welcome speech, The Group Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji reiterated the giant strides taken by the bank to show commitment to creating platforms that can help boost the confidence of the womenfolk, in order to soar higher;  by going for their goals when opportunities come their way.

According to Umeoji, “It is imperative for institutions to create enabling environments” she said.

She also advised women to boldly take their rights and their leadership positions without flinching over them.

In the same vein, The First Lady of Nigeria-Senator Oluremi Tinubu who was ably represented at the seminar by Wife of the Chief of Staff to Mr. President- Mrs Salamatu Gbajabiamila in her address, reiterated that empowering women must not be taken as a charitable gesture rather, it should be seen as a strategic investment in national development.

The Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu in her keynote address re-asserted the importance of education, leadership, mentorship and sustainable development for women.

Other speakers at the event were the former House of Representatives Member and Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission-Mrs Abike Dabiri Erewa and TY Bello who both spoke on women’s emancipation.

The high point of the conference was the opportunity for the attendees to listen to inspiring stories from women who have taken the initiative to take their destinies into their own hands, while they networked with women from different fields of life.

The seminar themed: “Take It, You Own It” is in tandem with the Y2026 International Women’s Day Theme- “Give to Gain “.

Recall that Zenith Bank has over the years organized International Women’s Day Seminars that have become the reference point for the discussion of women emancipation and gender equality in Nigeria.
