The residents of Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) are basking in the euphoria of the dividend of democracy in the new Bariga Land given to them courtesy of-Honourable Bukola Omope Adedeji’s led administration.

This was revealed in the scorecard of the Executive Chairman of the LCDA – Honourable Adedeji to mark her one hundred days in office.

In an exclusive interview with Khal-El Media, Adedeji who is the first woman to occupy the position of the Executive Chairman of The LCDA said, her administration has impacted positively on the people virtually in all aspect of life, from education to health, women inclusion, youth empowerment, agriculture, security, works and infrastructure and sports among others.

According to her, the education sector received a great boost in the last one hundred days, beginning with the back to school programme that came in two phases.

Adedeji stated that, more than three thousand school pupils in the over 30 primary schools in the LCDA were kitted with school materials in each phase of the back to school programme.

She also revealed that there was a paradigm shift in the agricultural sector during the period under review, as it was not just about the CDA alone.

She noted that her administration had a huge impact on the residents in this regard as more than ten thousand people benefited from the food fair project, which gave them access to buy food at fifty percent (50%) discount, while disclosing that a crate of eggs sold in the market for six thousand Naira (N6,000); was sold at the fair for three thousand Naira (N3,000).

The executive chairman gave the assurance that it would be a continuous project with another phase coming up in December 2025, in order to give the people of Bariga Land, the dividend of democracy due to them.

Honourable Adedeji whom the people call ‘Iya Ni Wura’ disclosed that the health care system in the locality has seen a significant improvement in the last one hundred days.

In her words: “ Bariga Local Council Development Area has eight (8) wards and there are seven (7) Standard Primary Healthcare Centers (PHC) in the locality. The Health Mission that we executed which took care of more than one thousand people, was carried out in these PHCs to boost the health status of the residents, as they were given free drugs and medical care”, she said.

The youth were not left out in this epoch making event. Honourable Adedeji explained that more than fifty young people who were trained in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) were empowered with brand new laptops as start up kits.

“The Youth Database was also created to identify their interests and understand how to meet up with their needs as it obtains in most developed cultures. This step will help to not leave anyone behind”, said enthused.

According to her, the database would help to identify those that would do better in white and blue collar jobs, especially in the area of vocational studies.

According to her, the database also includes information about market men and women, in order to serve them better.

In a bid to create a better society, Honourable Adedeji co-opted women in her leadership role. Thus; “Bariga Women In Council” was birthed. “This is more so, as the eight wards in Bariga have communities that are able to produce women with capabilities; who can change the status quo, when in the corridors of power”, she added.

The “koseleri” chairman why fielding questions on her one hundred days in office also revealed that five hundred (500) residents were empowered with a total of fifty million Naira (N50,000.000.00), with each person receiving a one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) to start a business of their choice.

Under Works and Infrastructure, Honourable Bukola Omope Adedeji disclosed that Oriola, Gbagada and Arobadade Roads which were newly constructed have been commissioned to The Glory of God!

 

In the period under review, the security of Barga Land was brought to fore with her administration giving patrol vehicles to the police force at Pedro and Bariga Police Stations as well as to the Crack Squad.

In the same vein, The Bariga Emergency Response Unit (BERU) was given Sienna Buses to help accelerate their work.

“The Light Up Bariga was also done to assist the security agents in their duties “, she added.

As sports and entertainment events have become increasingly important in the‘catch them young’ mantra, a standard stadium and sports centre which was built in Bariga CMS Primary School was commissioned by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the 14th of November, 2025.

In order to maintain the meaningful and cordial relations between her administration and residents, Adedeji revealed that she organized stakeholders’ meetings, which gave residents the opportunity to discuss community related issues and solutions were proffered in this regard.

When asked how she got the sobriquet- “Iya Ni Wura”, she explained that she operates an open door policy that allows people to have access to her office. She also stated that because she is a daughter of the soil (born and bred in Bariga), both her predecessor and residents have faith in her abilities to make things better in the locality.

With the promise of doing greater things for the residents in the coming months, she revealed that her motherly nature has made her leadership style outstanding.
