The Chairman of the Ohanaeze Electoral Committee Lagos State chapter, Chief Oliver Akubueze (Mmiri), has assured and reiterated his commitment to conduct a free and fair election for the new executives in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Akubueze stated this on the heels of the preparation by the Electoral Committee for the conduct of the election following the inauguration of the committee by the president of Ohanaeze, Chief Solomon Aguene.
He stated that he has since accepted the Chairmanship of the electoral committee with some stakeholders as members in order to restore lasting peace in Ohanaeze, Lagos State.
He explained that the Committee will release their time table for the election at the appropriate time and the election will cut across the Local Government areas and the State executives.
Chief Akubueze also debunked the  insinuations that he did not render account of all the money realized from the sale of forms in the previous election that was conducted by the electoral committee, which he was the Chairman.

He explained that the money was duly accounted for and explained that apart from the fact that the money was used to conduct election across the Local Government areas in the State, it was also used to pay some debts owed by Ohanaeze to individuals, Police cases and Court matters.

He mentioned some of the recipients of the money to include Chief Evaristus Ozonweke (Onowu), Ohanaeze women leader, Chief Damian Okoye (Nanka) among others.
Akubueze noted the importance of peace and unity in Ohanaeze in Lagos State and enjoined the stakeholders to support the peace initiative through the election of new executives.
He stated that as the former president of Ohanaeze and part of the Consent Judgment of the Lagos State High Court, which declared Chief Aguene as president, he was duly qualified to be the head of the electoral committee and will not succumb to any intimidation.
Chief Oliver Akubueze has demonstrated commitment to restoring peace in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State and has insisted that he will conduct the election despite pressure on him not to do so. The electoral committee has since commenced their work to conduct free and fair elections.
The members of the committee included:
