The President of Ohaneze Indigbo, Lagos State, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene while addressing Journalists in Lagos recently, has lauded the giant strides made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Making Nigeria great.
However, he revealed concerns over the new tax reforms,
On the issue of the new Tax reform, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene said that:
“I don’t know why the push for Tax reform before 2027 when the people are not living well. When the system is not doing well”.
He argued that before the government will propose a new tax reform, there is need for the presidency to make sure Nigerians are living in good condition.
He believes that the kind of people who are supposed to be taxed are those who have industries that can generate a lot of energy; that will help small companies to have enough power supply to carry out their day to day business. “This is the kind of people government should tax, after putting in place the necessary infrastructures and enabling environment to do business”, he said.
“There is no need for the government engage in a new tax reform for businesses that are struggling to grow or people who are carrying heavy loads on their heads in building constructions before they can eat”, he added.
He however asked Nigerians to be law abiding in all their endeavours.
