Fenerbahce have announced the dismissal of manager Jose Mourinho, just one day after the Turkish club failed to qualify for the Champions League phase, suffering a defeat to Benfica. The decision marks the end of Mourinho’s brief eight-month tenure with the club, during which he managed only two matches in the current season.
The 62-year-old Portuguese manager, known for his illustrious career, led Fenerbahce to a second-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig last season. However, his time in Istanbul was marked by disappointment, with no silverware to show for his efforts.
The club was eliminated in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals and suffered a defeat to Rangers in the Europa League round of 16.
Fenerbahce’s management has not yet named a successor, leaving fans and analysts speculating about the club’s next steps as they aim to rebound from this setback.
