This set the tone for the interview he granted to Khal-El Media, in a bid to highlight the feats he has achieved in another one hundred days.

According to the chairman, “we hit the ground running by delving into developmental projects such as renovation of existing school facilities.

“Olukotun Primary School which was abandoned was given a facelift, after listening to the pleas of residents who lamented the deplorable condition of the school. Because the pupils received their teaching under tree canopies”, he noted.

In the words of the chairman: “Myself and the councilors swung into action and after investigation, it was given to a contractor for renovation. Today, the classrooms are well equipped with teaching materials for the purpose of learning in a conducive environment, with teachers’ offices and restrooms available. We also provided drainages to de-flood the area”, he said.

“We replicated the same feat at Isheri Oshun where an abandoned school on a private property which was under litigation for more than twenty years was reclaimed as we bought over the two plots of land from the children of the original owner, who were bent on reclaiming their mother’s property. But the rest is history now, because we stepped in, processed the necessary documents with SUBEB for the construction of a modern school, got the final approval from Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and made a permanent Procurement of the piece of land. The construction of twelve blocks of classrooms in that place is ongoing”, he revealed.

Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya while speaking with Khal-El Media further explained that the Community Primary School which hitherto had no water and restrooms for both the pupils and teachers now wears a new look. “Thank God for the quick response from my administration. We had to sink a borehole (powered by solar energy), as well as construct a restroom for the school”, he noted.

The chairman explained further that, GCE forms were distributed to indigent students and those who excelled in the external examination became recipients of the administration’s scholarship grants.

Under road Infrastructure, the administration of Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya rehabilitated Ali Momodu Street, Adeshina Obinaike, Dosun Ekunrin and Oyisa street at Egan with drainages constructed and street lights installed to provide security in the area. In the same vein, Adeotan Road, Krisbi Street at Igando as well as The Independent Way Road, also in Igando have been rehabilitated.

While construction work is ongoing at the four hundred and eighty square meter Olanrewaju/ Rabiat- Akinsanya Road in Egan, the one point three kilometer long Lafunke street in Ijegun and Itoki street in Ikotun and they expected to be completed with interlocking pavement stones.

Also, he stated that renovation work is being carried out at the secretariat to give it a modern look. “Before now, the back of the secretariat was a hideout for miscreants, hoodlums and armed robbers- a meeting place for armed robbers who killed, maimed and robbed innocent people. But it is no longer story as usual, as the place has been turned into a car park”, he added.

The chairman further explained that the health sector received a significant boost during the period under review. The now functional Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) at Ikotun, was formerly destroyed during the “End SARS” protests; was rebuilt, equipped with medical facilities and ambulance for emergency. The PHC Center at Obadore was also renovated.

In the same vein, mobile refuse trucks were procured during the period under review, to complement the work of the PSP Operators in the area, while the “Operation Red Handed Programme that is underway, will help apprehend those who dump their refuse at illegal sites.

“The youth who are the bedrock of our communities and the society were not left out in the success story. They were empowered with different skills in catering, bead making, fashion design and tie and dye for the girls, while the boys received training in plumbing, hair cutting etc. These youth were also given start up kits for them to soar beyond their imagination”, he added.

“Other things done by my administration included : giving widows and widowers’ cash gifts and food palliatives intervally. The markets were not left out. Irepodun Market has a facelift, Kotokwu market known for its notoriety as a hibernation ground for kidnapping, robbery and other crime was also given a facelift”, Akinsanya said.

As the chief security officer of the local government, he stated that he worked hand in hand with security operatives such as the police and other security operatives, for the prevalence of relative peace in the area.

“Under, the agric department, we celebrated the world food day and food was sold to residents at a subsidized rate, with a machinery in place to monitor the sale”, he explained.

According to the executive chairman who believes that the local council development area is still evolving said, “ holding a CDC stakeholders’ meetings monthly and meeting with the larger community quarterly, is a great way to brainstorm and discuss how to improve the wellbeing of the residents through socio-economic development.
