The Executive Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area-Honourable Dr. Bayo Adefuye has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the residents of the locality have access to a meaningful life.
He gave this assurance to the people during the occasion of his 100 days in office, which was held at the council’s secretariat on the 17th of November, 2025.
During his keynote address, the chairman promised to make Yaba, a haven for all with his people oriented programmes and policies.
Honourable Adefuye who was praised for his leadership style revealed that he pegged his landmark achievements on education, health and environment, infrastructure as well as youth development among others.
According to the chairman, his “Yaba Tuntun, Empowerment Tuntun” bordered on food security, poverty alleviation where the most vulnerable people of the locality were taken care of, while empowering over five hundred residents with two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000.00) cash each; in two phases, to boost their small and medium enterprises, equipping various artisans with tools such as grinding machines, generators, clippers, vulcanizing machines and sewing machines to improve efficiency and production of goods and services for the benefit of the citizenry.
Similarly, Dr. Adefuye handed two brand new Sienna utility vehicles and two mini buses (Moroe) to each division of the Nigerian Police Force in the area, to boost security, while buses were given to market men and women to advance their interests and other engagements.
In addition, cars were given to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim Community in order to help them in their evangelical mission.
The legislative arm of Yaba LCDA was not left behind, as the chairman also gave them a bus to ease their work.
The climax of the ceremony was when men and women who have contributed to the growth of the locality were called out for awards. They were recognized immensely for their dedication and commitment to the cause of the local government area.
On the whole, Honourable Dr. Bayo Adefuye was commended by all and sundry for the giant strides made in the past months vis-a-vis: distribution of financial support to petty traders, brand new cars for selected beneficiaries, work tools for artisans, back to school materials for school pupils, health missions among others.
Some of the personalities who were present at the occasion included party leaders, community leaders, market leaders and various interest groups.
