The Boy-Child Transformation Centre (BTC) has announced plans to host its 5th Anniversary Transformation Summit on the 16th of May, 2026, in Ikoyi, Lagos, where it will unveil “UNBOXED: Shaping the Boy-Child for True Manhood,” a new advocacy and intervention framework aimed at addressing the growing challenges facing boys in society.

The Boy-Child Transformation Centre (BTC), a social intervention and advocacy platform, has said its forthcoming anniversary summit will bring together key stakeholders to confront what it describes as a “silent demographic crisis” affecting the boy-child.

Scheduled to hold in Ikoyi, Lagos, the summit is expected to attract corporate executives, policymakers, educators, parents, and mental health advocates to deliberate on issues surrounding emotional development, social expectations, and leadership gaps among young boys.

A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of UNBOXED: Shaping the Boy-Child for True Manhood, a book authored by BTC Founder and Growth Strategist, Nkiruka Moghalu-Joel. The publication is positioned as an execution playbook designed to address entrenched societal norms that discourage emotional expression and vulnerability among boys.

Speaking ahead of the summit, Moghalu-Joel said the initiative seeks to challenge what she termed the “MACHO Box,” a system of expectations that equates masculinity with emotional suppression and limits the development of emotional intelligence.

According to her, the long-standing assumption that boys will independently navigate societal pressures has contributed to deeper social consequences.

She noted that denying boys emotional literacy not only affects individual well-being but also has broader implications for families, communities, and future leadership structures.

The summit will also feature the final stage of the Walk-in-My-Shoes (WIMS) Challenge, an advocacy platform that empowers young boys to propose practical solutions to societal pressures. Finalists will compete for a grand prize of ₦1,000,000.

Organisers said the BTC@5 Transformation Summit is designed to shift conversations from awareness to action by promoting structured interventions that support the holistic development of boys.

The Centre added that the initiative represents a strategic effort to redefine narratives around masculinity and equip the next generation with emotional resilience, empathy, and ethical leadership skills.
