The Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has caused a stir on social media after posting a goodwill message to citizens to mark the beginning of September.
Fubara, in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, shared a photo of himself with the caption:
“WELCOME TO THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER. H.E. SIR SIMINALAYI FUBARA, GSSRA. GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE”.
The post, which carried his designation as Governor of Rivers State, quickly drew a flood of mixed responses from supporters, critics, and political observers.
While some users celebrated him as the “legitimate governor” and wished him blessings for the new month, others dismissed the post as a desperate attempt to cling to relevance.
Recall that a former Rivers governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, last week said the emergency rule will expire on September 18, 2025, paving the way for the resumption of democratic governance in the state.
